The challenge
Northgate's platform had grown faster than its architecture. Peak-hour latency was climbing, releases took weeks, and the customer dashboard was confusing new users at the exact moment they were deciding to trust the product with their money.
They needed to scale without a risky big-bang rewrite — and without pausing the roadmap.
Our solution
We split the monolith into well-defined services one domain at a time, starting with the payment flows that caused the most load. Each step shipped behind feature flags with full observability, so nothing went live without real-world proof.
In parallel, our designers rebuilt the dashboard around the three jobs customers actually came to do, validated with usability sessions before a line of production code was written.
